Filling the annual 990 series Form(s) are due by the 15th day of the 5th month after the tax period ends.
Note: If the due date falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or a legal holiday, the filing can be done on the next business day.
- The exempt organizations following the calendar tax year must file their annual return by May 15.
- For example, If an exempt organization's fiscal tax year ends on January 31, the 15th day of the 5th month would be June 15, as a due date.
If organizations cannot file their Form 990 by the due date, they can use Form 8868 to request an extension of time to file the form. This is applicable for Form 990, 990-EZ, or 990-PF.
